The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is proposing to initiate rulemaking for Chapter 69 of the Iowa Administrative Code for Onsite Wastewater Treatment and Disposal. The rulemaking is in response to proposed legislation in Senate File 511 regarding maintenance requirements, including designation of whom is allowed to perform maintenance on peat moss biofilter systems, recirculating textile filter systems, or anaerobic treatment units. A draft of the proposed changes to Chapter 69 has been developed, and an initial stakeholder meeting was held on November 1st to discuss the proposed changes.
